Maendra Alvares is an entrepreneur, conservationist, and the founder of the Museum Big Foot – Goa (Ancestral Goa), located in Lotoulim, Goa, India. Big Foot is a museum that showcases the work of local culture and heritage, promoting cultural dialogue and artistic expression.
Maendra Alvares has been actively involved in the promotion and preservation of Goan art and culture. His passion for art led him to establish Ancestral Goa – Big Foot, with a vision to create a space for the growth of Goan culture and history. The museum hosts a wide range of art exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events, serving as a platform for artistic exploration and appreciation.
Alvares has also been committed to environmental conservation in Goa. He has initiated projects to protect and restore the state’s natural resources, particularly its lakes and water bodies. His efforts have focused on raising awareness about the importance of preserving Goa’s ecological heritage, cultural traits, traditional occupations, customs and promoting sustainable practices.
He is most recognized for his record breaking feat of Carving a statue of the Saint mira Bai which is 14 feet by length and 10 feet in width – on the face of a single rock, he carved to monolithic statue in the record breaking 1 month. In 1996 the record was entered into the limca book of records and till today is receiving various records for this size
